Aviation News – AEGEAN Airlines Boosts Regional Connectivity with Fleet Renewal Move

AEGEAN Airlines, through its subsidiary Olympic Air, has introduced a brand-new ATR 72-600 to its fleet and confirmed two more aircraft on order for 2026, reinforcing its commitment to fleet modernization and sustainable regional travel.

The latest addition marks a key milestone in AEGEAN’s ongoing renewal strategy. Olympic Air, operating domestic and nearby international routes, currently flies 15 ATR turboprops—12 ATR 72-600s and three ATR 42-600s. The two new aircraft, scheduled for delivery in December 2026, further solidify AEGEAN’s partnership with ATR and its focus on efficient, environmentally conscious regional operations.

The ATR 72-600 is renowned for its low fuel consumption, quiet operation, and ability to serve short runways, making it ideal for Greece’s island network. The aircraft’s modern avionics and improved passenger comfort also support AEGEAN’s goal of enhancing service reliability and operational efficiency.

“Welcoming the ATR 72-600 is another important step in our sustainability and fleet renewal strategy,” an AEGEAN spokesperson said. “These aircraft allow us to connect more destinations efficiently while significantly reducing our carbon footprint.”

Looking ahead, AEGEAN’s continued investment in next-generation regional aircraft positions the airline to strengthen connectivity across Greece and the wider Mediterranean. The new turboprops will help meet growing demand for regional travel while supporting the airline’s long-term environmental objectives.

With its latest order and delivery, AEGEAN reaffirms its place as a leading regional carrier in Europe, focused on modern, efficient, and sustainable operations.
