Aviation News – Allegiant Air has exercised options to purchase six additional Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft under its 2021 purchase agreement with Boeing, with deliveries scheduled for 2028. The move strengthens the US low-cost carrier’s long-term fleet expansion plans and adds six aircraft to its existing commitment to the aircraft manufacturer.

The airline announced the decision on Friday, October 23, 2026. The six aircraft carry a combined list price of more than $720 million, according to Allegiant. The latest exercise of options builds on an agreement designed to support the airline’s future fleet requirements as it continues expanding its Boeing 737 MAX commitments.

Under the agreement, Allegiant now has 56 firm aircraft on order, including 22 that have already been delivered. The contract also includes purchase options for another 74 aircraft, giving the airline considerable flexibility to increase its fleet in the coming years as demand and operational requirements evolve.

The latest announcement highlights the continuing importance of the Boeing 737 MAX family to Allegiant’s fleet strategy. The airline’s purchase agreement provides a framework for gradually introducing new aircraft, while the remaining options allow it to adjust future commitments according to its business needs. Aviation analytics consultancy IBA estimates the six aircraft have a combined market value of approximately $351 million, based on their scheduled delivery year, significantly below their combined list price.

With deliveries planned for 2028, Allegiant is continuing to build its future aircraft capacity through its long-term agreement with Boeing. The 74 remaining purchase options provide opportunities for further fleet growth, although exercising them would depend on the airline’s future decisions. The next phase of the programme will be closely watched as Allegiant develops its network and prepares for additional Boeing 737 MAX deliveries.

Allegiant Air’s latest decision adds six Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to its firm order book, bringing its commitment under the 2021 agreement to 56 aircraft. With deliveries expected in 2028 and 74 options still available, the airline retains significant flexibility for future expansion.
