Aviation News – First QantasLink Embraer E190 Touches Down in Perth
QantasLink has reached a major operational milestone with the arrival of its first Embraer E190 in Perth, marking the beginning of a comprehensive fleet renewal program for its Western Australian resources charter operations.
The aircraft, bearing registration VH-E9A, arrived in Perth following an extensive 20-hour delivery ferry flight from Norwich in the United Kingdom. During its journey, the jet completed strategic stops across Bulgaria, Tajikistan, India, Malaysia, and Broome before touching down at its final destination. This single delivery represents the first of up to 14 mid-life E190s slated to join the regional carrier’s operations over the coming years.
The incoming regional jets will directly replace QantasLink’s aging Fokker F100 aircraft, which have long served as the backbone of the region’s fly-in, fly-out charter network. By updating this specialized fleet, the airline ensures continuous, high-capacity support for key industrial players across the regional resources sector.
Transitioning to the modern E190 platform delivers significant operational benefits, including reduced carbon emissions, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced passenger comfort compared to the outgoing Fokker platforms. These modern performance metrics allow the airline to maintain reliability across demanding regional routes while optimizing overall operating economics.
