Aviation News – Dutch mobility pioneer PAL-V has officially secured its European Production Organisation Approval (POA) from EASA, granting full authorization to manufacture certified FlyDrive vehicles on an industrial scale. This milestone marks the first time a company in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) dual-mode segment has fulfilled both automotive and aviation production mandates simultaneously.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval builds upon years of rigorous testing, regulatory auditing, and engineering evaluations. Based in the Netherlands, PAL-V had previously secured full road-admission clearance across Europe, allowing its hybrid vehicles to legally operate on public highways. By satisfying EASA’s strict Part 21 Subpart G regulations governing aircraft manufacturing quality systems, the firm now bridges the gap between road registration and airworthiness compliance.
Achieving a dual-approval status puts the Dutch company ahead of major global initiatives in North America and Asia, establishing a world-first operational benchmark for the Advanced Air Mobility sector. The company’s flagship platform, the PAL-V Liberty, utilizes proven gyroplane technology paired with a retractable rotor system and fold-out tail drive assemblies. This dual design enables seamless transitions between conventional driving mode and low-altitude flight without requiring custom runway infrastructure.
From an operational and technical standpoint, obtaining a Production Organisation Approval validates that a manufacturer’s quality control, supply chain oversight, and manufacturing repeatability conform strictly to certified type designs. Unlike prototype construction, industrial production under EASA oversight requires every component—from composite rotor blades to switchable flight-control foot pedals—to be built under traceable, standardized procedures. This level of oversight mitigates critical airworthiness risks and ensures each unit off the assembly line delivers uniform safety compliance.
“Securing this approval is a historic leap for both our company and the future of personal mobility,” stated an executive representative. “By establishing an EASA-compliant production environment, we are proving that dual-mode vehicles can transition from visionary prototypes to certified, scalable commercial realities built under the absolute highest aviation safety standards.”
With both automotive and aviation production green lights in hand, PAL-V is positioned to accelerate assembly operations and fulfill its growing global order book. The milestone signals a transformative shift for the commercialization of FlyDrive solutions, opening doors for private owners, emergency responders, and regional logistics providers across international markets.
