AviationNews – Emirates has successfully transformed recycled aviation materials into a towering 2.4-metre monument of the Arsenal Football Club crest, celebrating a two-decade partnership. This unique illuminated sculpture now stands proudly at the Emirates Stadium in London, marking a major milestone following Arsenal’s recent Premier League-winning season.
The ambitious project honors the deep-rooted collaboration between the Dubai-based airline and the historic English football club, a relationship that began in 2006 and recently secured an extension through 2033. Designed and built entirely in-house by Emirates Engineering teams, the Crest was brought to life by a team of 15 experts in just 34 days. Following its meticulous creation, Emirates SkyCargo handled the careful transportation from Dubai to London, ensuring the delicate, custom-crated installation arrived flawlessly at its new home by the Directors Box and Diamond Club entrance.
Technicians sourced 84 distinct parts from retired Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, applying rigorous aviation production processes to shape the monument. The central cannon features an A380 main landing gear wheel hub and a reshaped titanium bleed-air duct, while Boeing 777 aluminum fuselage skin forms the shield. Cargo tracks, floor panels, and roller components provide structural integrity. Adding a bespoke touch, engineers individually carved the iconic Arsenal lettering from cabin windows and integrated warm white backlighting. Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, emphasized the significance of the project, stating, “Our Engineering team has transformed components from our Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft into one of football’s most iconic symbols. The craftsmanship behind the Crest is exceptional. It reflects the precision, discipline, and ambition that define both aviation and elite sport, while giving these aircraft materials an entirely new purpose.”
As the partners enter this extended chapter, Emirates retains its role as the front-of-shirt, training kit, and stadium naming rights sponsor. The newly installed crest serves as a permanent symbol of a shared future, merging the airline’s legacy of engineering excellence with the club’s athletic ambition.
