Aviation News – Uganda Airlines has placed its first-ever direct order with Boeing for four 737-8 and four 787-9 Dreamliner airplanes to grow and modernize its fleet. The strategic agreement marks a pivotal milestone for Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Uganda Airlines, introducing Boeing passenger jets to the carrier’s operations for the first time. By incorporating both narrowbody and widebody models, the airline establishes a versatile fleet foundation designed to scale operations across Africa and beyond.
The order reflects a concerted effort to enhance East Africa’s commercial aviation sector and improve trade infrastructure. The investment aligns directly with broader national efforts to transform Entebbe into a premier regional transport and cargo hub.
The fleet pairing of single-aisle 737-8 and widebody 787-9 aircraft delivers optimal efficiency and operational flexibility. The 737-8 optimizes short-to-medium haul routes with reduced fuel burn, while the long-range 787-9 Dreamliner offers exceptional cargo capacity, lower operational costs, and superior passenger comfort on intercontinental routes.
