Aviation News – The Royal Air Force (RAF) celebrated the Official Birthday of King Charles III with a spectacular flypast over Buckingham Palace on Saturday, as 31 aircraft soared above London in a traditional display of military aviation and national pride.
The aerial salute took place at 13:00 following the Trooping the Colour ceremony. Their Majesties The King and Queen, accompanied by other members of the Royal Family, watched the formation from Buckingham Palace alongside thousands of spectators gathered on The Mall. The flypast brought together aircraft and personnel from eight different RAF stations across the United Kingdom.
Leading the formation were three Chinook helicopters representing the RAF’s frontline heavy-lift helicopter force from 18, 27 and 7 Squadrons based at RAF Odiham. The annual flypast demonstrates the RAF’s operational readiness and showcases the breadth of the service’s capabilities, ranging from transport and support missions to frontline defence operations.
An RAF spokesperson said the flypast was “a proud opportunity to honour His Majesty The King while highlighting the dedication and professionalism of the men and women serving across the Royal Air Force.”
The event reinforces the close relationship between the British monarchy and the armed forces while providing a rare opportunity for the public to witness a broad representation of modern RAF aviation.
