Aviation News – Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft from De Havilland Canada, marking the introduction of the versatile turboprop type into the airline’s fleet. The delivery represents a significant step in the carrier’s efforts to expand regional connectivity and support operations in remote areas across Africa.
The aircraft is the first of two Twin Otter Classic 300-G airplanes ordered by Ethiopian Airlines during the Paris Air Show in June 2025. The agreement highlighted the airline’s commitment to enhancing access to destinations with limited infrastructure while strengthening its domestic and regional network.
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, selected the aircraft due to its proven performance in challenging operating environments. The Twin Otter family has earned a reputation worldwide for serving remote communities, regional airports, and special-mission operations. The latest delivery marks a new chapter in the airline’s fleet modernization and diversification strategy.
The Twin Otter Classic 300-G is designed for short takeoff and landing (STOL) operations, enabling it to operate from short and unpaved runways that are inaccessible to many larger aircraft. Its operational flexibility allows airlines to connect underserved regions, transport passengers and cargo efficiently, and support humanitarian or development missions where infrastructure is limited.
