Aviation News – Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas has been confirmed as the previously undisclosed customer behind an order for four additional Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. The announcement, made by Airbus on June 1, 2026, increases Azul’s total backlog of A330neos to 11 aircraft, strengthening the airline’s long-haul fleet expansion plans.
The latest order builds on Azul’s earlier commitment to the A330neo program. The airline first placed a firm order for three aircraft in November 2022 before expanding the agreement in December 2023 with an additional four A330-900s, bringing the total to seven. Airbus has now confirmed that Azul is also the customer behind the newly disclosed order for four more aircraft, raising the backlog to 11 jets. The move reflects the airline’s continued investment in modern, fuel-efficient widebody aircraft as demand for international travel grows.
The A330-900neo is the largest variant of Airbus’ A330neo family and is designed for medium- and long-haul operations. Equipped with new-generation engines and aerodynamic improvements, the aircraft delivers lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions compared with previous-generation models. For Azul, the expanded fleet will provide greater flexibility on international routes while supporting operational efficiency and sustainability objectives.
