Aviation News – Bell Textron Inc. has officially finalized the delivery of a brand-new Bell 407GXi helicopter to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The next-generation aircraft will immediately integrate into the state’s active law enforcement fleet to bolster airborne patrol, emergency response, and tactical surveillance capabilities across Texas.
The handover follows an initial procurement announcement made during the Verticon exhibition earlier this year, where the law enforcement agency secured the purchase contract. This asset acquisition deepens a historic operational alliance between the two Texas-based organizations, which stretches back nearly 60 years. The manufacturer, which recently celebrated its 75th anniversary of being headquartered in Fort Worth, builds and designs these specialized rotorcraft to support high-consequence public safety agencies worldwide.
The incoming single-engine platform joins an expansive mixed aviation fleet operated by the department’s dedicated aircraft division. It will fly alongside the agency’s larger twin-engine Bell 412EP, providing state troopers with a highly versatile, scalable deployment model for varying mission profiles. By upgrading its equipment with this modern airframe, the public safety department ensures its aircrews maintain technical superiority while patrolling remote border regions and dense urban centers alike.
The Bell 407GXi relies on an advanced pilot flight deck and an upgraded turbine engine to deliver exceptional multi-mission versatility and operational reliability.
