Sikorsky Delivers Autonomous UH-60MX Black Hawk to US Army for Advanced Flight Testing

Aviation News – Sikorsky has delivered an experimental UH-60MX Black Hawk helicopter equipped with its MATRIX autonomy system to the United States Army, marking a significant step toward autonomous military rotorcraft operations.

The aircraft, developed by Sikorsky, was officially handed over on March 23, 2026, after completing integration and flight testing. The programme forms part of broader efforts by the United States Army Combat Capabilities Development Command to explore next-generation aviation concepts, including optionally piloted systems and advanced human-machine collaboration.

At the core of the UH-60MX is a full-authority fly-by-wire system combined with Sikorsky’s MATRIX autonomy suite, enabling the helicopter to operate with or without a pilot on board. This capability allows for increased mission flexibility, reduced risk to personnel, and the potential for complex autonomous operations in contested environments.
