IAT Leasing has secured a landmark deal to manage a fleet of 10 Airbus A330-300 freighter aircraft currently serving Amazon Air. The Dublin-based firm announced on March 16, 2026, that the widebody aircraft were purchased from funds managed by ALTAVAIR. The acquisition was completed on behalf of funds managed by Blue Owl Capital, with multi-million dollar financing provided by MUFG.

Aviation News – Dublin-based IAT Leasing has expanded its global portfolio through the acquisition of 10 Airbus A330-300 freighters on behalf of Blue Owl Capital. This move establishes a high-profile management partnership involving Amazon Air and Alaska Airlines, marking a significant milestone for the Irish asset manager in the widebody cargo sector.

This transaction highlights a complex collaboration between some of the industry’s largest financial and operational players. While the aircraft were previously part of the ALTAVAIR portfolio, IAT Leasing will now take the lead in providing ongoing lease administration and asset management services. This deal reinforces the company’s growth strategy, moving it into a “new asset class” and diversifying its fleet beyond narrowbody aircraft.

The Airbus A330-300P2F (Passenger-to-Freighter) units are a critical component of Amazon Air’s logistics network. These aircraft offer a substantial payload capacity of up to 62 tonnes and are specifically optimized for the high-volume, lower-density cargo typical of e-commerce. Operated by Alaska Airlines, these freighters utilize advanced fly-by-wire technology, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability for rapid delivery schedules.
