Aviation News – Air Lease Corporation has delivered the first Boeing 737-8 to Air Canada, launching a five-aircraft lease program that will expand and modernize the carrier’s narrowbody fleet.

The delivery, drawn from Air Lease’s existing Boeing orderbook, follows a long-term lease agreement signed in 2023 between the U.S.-based lessor and Canada’s flag carrier. The remaining four aircraft are scheduled to join the airline in phases, supporting Air Canada’s ongoing fleet renewal strategy as it replaces older, less efficient single-aisle jets and responds to rising passenger demand across North America.

The Boeing 737-8, part of the 737 MAX family, offers improved fuel efficiency, longer range and lower emissions compared with previous-generation models. Its design allows airlines to bolt on newer systems and standardized components that simplify maintenance while reducing operating costs. For Air Canada, the aircraft will help optimize route flexibility, particularly on transcontinental and medium-haul services.
