Aviation News – Türkiye is expected to receive its first Eurofighter Typhoon jet from Qatar’s inventory by the end of February, marking a key step in its fighter modernization drive. The delivery matters as it bolsters air power quickly while Ankara advances a multi-source procurement strategy.
The transfer follows the completion of negotiations between Türkiye and Qatar, with Turkish pilots already undergoing training on the aircraft. Türkiye plans to acquire 12 Eurofighter Typhoons from Qatar’s inventory, complementing other acquisition pathways. The process was discussed during trilateral talks in Doha involving Turkish Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadioglu, his Qatari counterpart, and representatives of the UK’s Royal Air Force, underscoring British involvement in the platform’s transition.
The Eurofighter Typhoon provides a rapid capability uplift, offering advanced air-to-air performance and modern avionics suitable for interoperability with NATO partners. Drawing aircraft from an existing inventory allows Türkiye to bolt near-term readiness onto its force structure while pilots and maintainers build experience ahead of broader fleet decisions.
