Aviation News – IndiGo has become India’s first airline to operate the Airbus A321XLR after taking delivery of the aircraft on January 7, 2026. The milestone strengthens the carrier’s long-haul ambitions and marks a significant step in India’s expanding single-aisle aviation market.

The newly delivered aircraft is the first of 69 A321XLRs ordered by the low-cost carrier from Airbus as part of a series of mega-orders. These deals have pushed IndiGo’s total Airbus order book close to 1,000 aircraft, underlining its rapid growth and long-term fleet strategy built around fuel efficiency and network expansion.
