Airbus Helicopters has secured a new contract from Ghana’s Ministry of Defence for a mixed fleet of military and corporate helicopters, strengthening the country’s rotary-wing capabilities and marking Airbus’ return to the Ghanaian market.

The agreement covers two H175M multi-mission helicopters, alongside one ACH175 and one ACH160 for transport operations. Awarded by the Ministry of Defence, the deal positions Ghana as a significant Airbus customer in West Africa and reflects renewed cooperation focused on long-term support and partnership.

The H175M will perform a wide range of missions, including troop transport, search and rescue, emergency medical services, and disaster relief. Its modular design allows rapid reconfiguration, acting as a versatile operational bolt that enhances readiness across both defense and humanitarian tasks, while the ACH175 and ACH160 provide premium transport capability.

Arnaud Montalvo, Head of Africa and Middle East Region for Airbus Helicopters, said the order highlights growing trust in the manufacturer, noting that “the commitment from Ghana marks the return of Airbus Helicopters to the country with a defined focus on customer support and partnership.”

Looking ahead, the acquisition is expected to improve Ghana’s response capacity for national emergencies and regional security operations, while reinforcing Airbus Helicopters’ footprint across Africa and opening the door to future fleet expansion.

The deal underscores Ghana’s investment in flexible, modern rotorcraft suited to both military and civilian missions. As deliveries begin, the helicopters are set to play a central role in strengthening national resilience and transport capabilities.
