Airbus Defence and Space has secured a major contract from Eutelsat to build 340 additional OneWeb low Earth orbit satellites, strengthening the continuity of the global broadband constellation and reinforcing Europe’s strategic space capabilities.

The new order follows a previous batch of 100 satellites signed in December 2024, bringing the total number of OneWeb satellites ordered by Eutelsat to 440, underlining long-term commitment to the network’s operations and resilience.

The satellites will be manufactured at Airbus Defence and Space’s Toulouse facility on a newly installed production line, with deliveries scheduled to begin at the end of 2026, marking a significant industrial step for European space manufacturing and sovereignty.

Designed for low Earth orbit operations, the satellites will support global connectivity services by maintaining coverage, capacity, and redundancy across the OneWeb constellation, effectively acting as a bolt that secures uninterrupted service as demand for satellite broadband continues to grow.
