Aviation News – The Federal Aviation Administration is investing $6 billion to upgrade air traffic control telecom and radar infrastructure across the United States.
The move aims to modernize the national ATC network, improving safety, reliability, and capacity in increasingly crowded airspace.
The funding is scheduled to be spent by the end of the year as part of a broader federal modernization drive. Earlier this month, the U.S. government selected technology company Peraton as the project leader for the new air traffic control system under a multi-billion-dollar contract, placing the company at the center of the transformation effort.
The upgrades will focus on replacing aging radar and telecommunications systems with more resilient, digital technologies. Modernized infrastructure will allow air traffic controllers to manage flights more efficiently, bolt cybersecurity protections into core systems, and reduce delays caused by equipment failures or limited data sharing.
