Aviation News – Archer Aviation has announced plans to establish a new engineering hub in South West England to support advanced aviation and defense projects.
The move expands the company’s international footprint and reinforces the UK’s role in emerging electric and hybrid aircraft development.
The U.S.-based company will operate through a newly formed UK subsidiary, building a local engineering team in a region known for its aerospace and defence heritage. The announcement follows recent confirmation of collaboration between Anduril UK and GKN Aerospace in support of the British Army’s Project NYX and the Ministry of Defence’s Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform programme, with Archer set to contribute technical expertise.
Archer will bring its latest developments in electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft and hybrid propulsion systems to the partnership. Working alongside GKN Aerospace, including potential activity at its Isle of Wight airframe production facility, the company aims to bolt advanced mobility, autonomy, and propulsion technologies into future military and dual-use platforms.
