Aviation News – The Bangladesh Air Force has taken a major step toward modernizing its combat fleet by signing a letter of intent with Italian manufacturer Leonardo for the potential acquisition of 10 to 16 Eurofighter Typhoon fighters. The move signals Bangladesh’s intent to strengthen its air defense and multirole capabilities.
The agreement marks the beginning of a formal process that could see the Eurofighter Typhoon selected as the country’s next-generation fighter. Leonardo, one of the core partners in the Eurofighter consortium, will now engage with Bangladesh on program details, operational requirements, and procurement planning. The signing sets the stage for broader defense cooperation with Italy.
Designed as a highly maneuverable multirole aircraft, the Eurofighter Typhoon can perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions with advanced sensors, a powerful radar, and integrated weapons systems. For Bangladesh, the platform would offer a major boost in air deterrence and modern combat readiness.
