Air China Places Major Airbus A320neo Order

Aviation News – Air China has signed an agreement with Airbus to acquire 60 A320neo family aircraft, reinforcing fleet renewal plans and underscoring China’s renewed demand for fuel-efficient single-aisle jets. The deal matters as it highlights Airbus’s strong position in the world’s second-largest aviation market.

The purchase was disclosed in a regulatory filing on December 30, 2025, and values the aircraft at about $9.5 billion at list prices, before customary discounts. The order forms part of a late-December wave of narrowbody commitments announced by Chinese airlines and leasing companies, capping a year-end sales bolt for Airbus in the region. The aircraft will be allocated between Air China and a wholly owned subsidiary.

The A320neo family is designed to cut fuel burn and emissions while extending range and payload flexibility. For Air China, the aircraft will support network growth, replace older jets, and improve operating economics on high-frequency domestic and regional routes.
