Aviation News – Air Astana announces record aircraft order to expand future fleet capacity

Air Astana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus to acquire up to 50 A320neo-family aircraft, a move aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan’s position as a key aviation hub in Central Asia.

The agreement includes 25 firm orders and 25 purchase options for a mix of A320neo and A321neo models, including the long-range A321LR variant. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2031, marking the largest aircraft order in the airline’s history as it continues its long-term fleet modernization strategy.

The A320neo family offers improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and increased range, enabling Air Astana to enhance regional connectivity and expand medium-haul routes. The A321LR’s extended capabilities also support new international services and higher passenger capacity on strategic routes.
