Aviation News, July 10, 2025 — L3Harris Technologies has successfully delivered the first refurbished P-8A Poseidon aircraft to the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), marking a major milestone in strengthening operational readiness.
As part of its ongoing support for the Navy, L3Harris is providing program depot maintenance, along with comprehensive repair and overhaul services, for NAVAIR’s fleet of 139 P-8A aircraft. These aircraft are crucial to missions involving maritime patrol, long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). In addition to U.S. Navy support, L3Harris is also contributing to foreign military sales of the P-8A platform.
“This first delivery demonstrates our commitment to keeping the Navy’s fleet mission-ready,” said Jason Lambert, President of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance at L3Harris. “With our deep-rooted expertise in aircraft maintenance and modification, we’re able to improve performance and extend the operational life of these critical assets.”
In the first year of the contract, L3Harris expects to induct up to nine aircraft. Seven P-8A aircraft are currently undergoing overhaul, all scheduled for completion and delivery by the end of 2025. The maintenance and modification work on the Navy’s fleet began in 2024 at L3Harris’ dedicated aircraft facility in Waco, Texas, and is planned to continue through September 2029.
This program underscores L3Harris’ role as a trusted partner in U.S. Navy aviation sustainment and global defense readiness.
