Aviation News July 14, 2025 – Air Belgium, the Belgian cargo airline and subsidiary of CMA CGM Air Cargo, is set to phase out all its remaining Airbus freighters in the coming weeks. This move will leave the airline with a significantly reduced fleet, consisting solely of two Boeing 747-8F aircraft.
The airline has been operating Airbus A330-200P2F freighters since 2021, though the type has been part of Air Belgium’s fleet since its launch in 2018. Originally, only one of the two A330s was scheduled to be returned to its lessor. However, internal sources have confirmed that both aircraft will now be withdrawn from service.
This fleet reduction raises uncertainty for 24 Airbus-rated pilots, whose future with the airline remains unclear. The exit of the Airbus aircraft also means Air Belgium will need to re-register one of its Boeing 747-8Fs to comply with regulatory requirements following the fleet adjustment.
The decision marks a strategic shift for the airline, which will now focus exclusively on Boeing operations moving forward.
