Tokyo, Japan – 11 June 2025 – Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. company, has announced that Shin-Nihon Helicopters has signed an agreement to acquire its first two Bell 429 helicopters. This move expands what is already the largest Bell fleet in Japan and marks another milestone in the companies’ enduring partnership.
The newly ordered Bell 429s will be used for powerline inspection and personnel transport, further strengthening Shin-Nihon Helicopters’ operational capacity. The company already operates several Bell aircraft models, including the Bell 206, Bell 412, and Bell 427. In 2019, Shin-Nihon Helicopters also became the first operator in Japan to add the Bell 407GXi to its fleet, acquiring two of the versatile single-engine helicopters.

The Bell 429 is a highly capable light twin-engine helicopter, offering the largest cabin in its class and an advanced integrated avionics suite. It is powered by dual PW207D1/D2 engines with Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), and features single-pilot IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) capability. Known for its speed, range, and hover performance, the Bell 429 is an ideal solution for multi-role missions.
Globally, the Bell 429 has established itself as a go-to platform for diverse operations—including public safety, emergency medical services (HEMS), and offshore transport. More than 500 units are currently in service worldwide, with the fleet collectively surpassing 735,000 flight hours, underscoring the aircraft’s proven reliability and versatility.
With the addition of the Bell 429s, Shin-Nihon Helicopters continues to elevate its ability to support critical infrastructure and transportation needs throughout Japan.
