Paris, France, June 16, 2025 – De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited has announced the sale of a Dash 8-400 aircraft to Barrick Gold Corporation, one of the world’s largest gold producers. The aircraft will support operations for the Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC), Barrick’s project in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
This sale marks a historic first, as the Dash 8-400 will become the inaugural aircraft of its kind to operate in Pakistan. The addition of this advanced regional turboprop is expected to significantly enhance the transportation of personnel and cargo at RDMC, one of South Asia’s most important mining developments.
“We are proud to contribute to Barrick’s growing presence in Pakistan,” said Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at De Havilland Canada. “The Dash 8-400 is built for rugged conditions and remote locations, making it a perfect match for the logistical needs of mining operations.”
Renowned for its speed, fuel efficiency, and short takeoff and landing performance, the Dash 8-400 is engineered to handle challenging terrains while minimizing environmental impact. Its reliability and low operational costs make it an optimal choice for Barrick’s remote site requirements.
“The Dash 8-400 brings reliable, efficient, and safe transport for our people and equipment,” said John Henderson, Director of Aviation at Barrick. “This investment reflects our commitment to supporting RDMC with world-class aviation standards.”
This milestone further highlights the Dash 8-400’s growing global footprint and its role in supporting critical infrastructure and industrial operations in remote and developing regions.
