Albacete, 30 May 2025 – Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first two NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopters (MSPT variant) to the Spanish Navy. These are the first of seven navalised NH90s from Spain’s second NH90 batch, totaling 23 units.Optimised for shipboard operations, the MSPT variant features reinforced landing gear, naval communications and navigation systems, and automatic folding of the rotor and fuselage. It can transport 20 troops or a light vehicle and operate under IFR, including in night and adverse weather conditions.
The delivery follows joint training at Airbus’s Albacete facility and marks the NH90’s entry into naval service, completing its adoption across all Spanish military branches. A recent framework agreement between Airbus and the Ministry of Defence supports further expansion under Spain’s National Helicopter Plan.
