Lufthansa has selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines for an additional 30 A320neo family aircraft. This order will bring the total number of PW1100G-JM engine-powered aircraft in Lufthansa’s fleet to 60. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2019 and continue through 2021. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp.
Lufthansa previously selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines in 2011 for its order of 30 A320neo family aircraft with deliveries starting in 2015.”We are very pleased with the testing to date on the Geared TurboFan™ engine family,” said Nico Buchholz, executive vice president, Lufthansa Group Fleet Management.

“Pratt & Whitney has completed more than 8,000 hours of testing across the PurePower engine family, including more than 900 hours of flight testing. The Geared TurboFan engine will deliver double-digit improvements in fuel efficiency, environmental emissions and noise.”To date, the PurePower engine family has more than 5,300 orders and commitments, including options, from more than 50 global customers.
