Kuwait Airways has canceled several flights as a strike got under way at the Gulf nation’s national carrier.
Several flights to regional destinations such as Dubai, Jeddah and Doha were listed as canceled on the airline’s website on Monday, although some other routes appeared to operating as normal.
Spokesmen for the carrier couldn’t be reached for comment, though airline employees confirmed that the strike began in the morning.
The airline employees’ trade union told local journalists over the weekend that they planned the industrial action to demand higher wages.
Kuwait has been hit with a wave of labor unrest in recent weeks. A strike by customs workers earlier this month threatened to disrupt oil supplies in the OPEC member nation.
