With this flexibility feature, the aircraft can carry up to seven occupants
Embraer received certification, last month, from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), for the belted toilet of its entry level Phenom 100 executive jet. The feature comes to further improve the jet’s flexibility. Now, customers who select this option will be able to carry up to seven occupants.
“This much-awaited product improvement comes to enhance the Phenom 100’s seating capacity, and is a result of listening to our customers,†said MaurÃcio Almeida, Embraer Vice President, Programs – Executive Jets. “Embraer is committed to offering unique, customer-centered solutions, and continues to work hard to further improve this successful and highly popular airplane.â€
In order to be certified for takeoff and landing, the belted toilet seat had to undergo a series of certification tests to ensure the highest levels of safety. For example, it had to withstand an impact of up to 21 times the force of gravity and still assure the passenger’s physical safety. Modifications include adding a belt to the toilet seat and reinforcements to the aft bulkhead divider. This new option will also be available to existing operators as a retrofit, later this year.
