Aviation News – Embraer and ANA Holdings have signed an agreement for eight additional E190-E2 aircraft, expanding ANA Holdings’ firm E2 order book to 23 aircraft and strengthening its regional aviation strategy in Japan.
The agreement formalizes ANA Holdings’ decision announced on July 29, 2026, and builds on its original contract for 15 E190-E2 aircraft, announced in 2025. ANA Holdings also retains five options for additional E190-E2s, potentially increasing the fleet further as demand for regional air travel develops.
The latest order reflects the Japanese airline group’s focus on developing a more efficient and sustainable regional network. Embraer’s E190-E2 is designed for regional routes, offering airlines a combination of operating efficiency, passenger comfort and lower environmental impact compared with older-generation aircraft.
The E190-E2 is a next-generation regional jet designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency and lower operating costs. Its capabilities make it suitable for connecting Japanese cities and supporting routes where larger narrow-body aircraft may not be economically optimal, giving ANA Holdings greater flexibility in its regional network.
“This additional E190-E2 order accelerates our efforts to build a sustainable regional aviation network in Japan,” said Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings. He added that the agreement demonstrates confidence in Embraer’s technology to reduce environmental impact and operating costs while improving regional connectivity and the passenger experience.
The additional aircraft will further strengthen the partnership between ANA Holdings and Embraer and could support the expansion and modernization of regional services across Japan. With five further options remaining, ANA Holdings has additional flexibility to increase its E2 fleet as future network requirements evolve.
The agreement brings ANA Holdings’ firm E2 orders to 23 aircraft, underlining its commitment to next-generation regional aviation. The E190-E2 is expected to play an increasingly important role in connecting Japanese communities efficiently while supporting the airline group’s sustainability objectives.
