Aviation News – China’s civil aviation sector handled 61.2 million passenger trips in April, marking a 0.4 percent year-on-year increase, according to new figures released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The latest data highlights the continued resilience of the country’s aviation market, driven largely by steady domestic demand and growing international travel.

China’s domestic aviation market accounted for 54.41 million passenger trips in April, a slight 0.2 percent decline compared with the same month last year. Meanwhile, international routes recorded 6.79 million passenger trips, reflecting a stronger 5.8 percent annual increase as airlines continue rebuilding overseas networks following years of pandemic-related disruption. The figures were released on Thursday as part of the regulator’s monthly sector update.

The growth in international air travel signals ongoing recovery in cross-border demand, supported by expanded airline capacity and easing travel barriers. At the same time, the sector’s cargo and mail transport performance remained robust, with 854,000 tonnes handled in April, representing a 6.9 percent rise year on year, underlining aviation’s critical role in China’s broader trade and logistics network.
