Aviation News – Ethiopian Airlines is considering a new order for additional Airbus aircraft, according to reports from Bloomberg and Business Insider Africa citing sources familiar with the matter. If finalized, the move would strengthen the carrier’s long-haul and regional network as Africa’s largest airline continues its fleet expansion strategy.

The reported deal could include six Airbus A350 widebody aircraft and up to 20 Airbus A220 narrowbody jets. The order would support Ethiopian Airlines’ plans to expand both intercontinental and regional services. While the airline has operated the A350-900 for several years as part of its long-haul fleet, the A220 would represent a new aircraft type for the Addis Ababa-based carrier and mark a significant diversification of its narrowbody operations.
