Aviation News – France’s Air and Space Force will deploy to the United States from June 8 to July 4, 2026, to participate in celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The mission will feature the Patrouille de France, an A400M Atlas transport aircraft and 85 French Airmen taking part in commemorative flyovers and airshows along the US East Coast alongside American armed forces.
The deployment by the French Air and Space Force (AAE) highlights the long-standing military and historical ties between France and the United States. The participation was announced as part of preparations for the nationwide commemorations linked to the 1776 Declaration of Independence. During the nearly month-long mission, the French contingent will conduct ceremonial overflights, attend public aviation events and support bilateral engagements with US military units.
The operation will center on the Alphajet aircraft flown by the Patrouille de France, France’s national aerobatic display team known for precision formation flying and national representation missions worldwide. The inclusion of the A400M Atlas will provide strategic transport and logistical support for personnel and equipment across multiple locations in the United States. The deployment also demonstrates France’s ability to project airpower and ceremonial capabilities overseas in coordination with allied forces.
A spokesperson for the French Air and Space Force said the deployment reflects “the strength of the historic friendship and operational partnership between France and the United States.” The spokesperson added that the participation of the Patrouille de France in the anniversary events would honor “shared values, shared history and the close cooperation between both nations’ armed forces.”
The mission is expected to reinforce defense cooperation and public diplomacy between the two countries while showcasing French aviation expertise to large American audiences. Joint appearances with US military aircraft and participation in high-profile commemorative events could also strengthen future operational and ceremonial collaborations between allied air forces.
The upcoming deployment represents one of the most visible French military participations in US commemorative events in recent years. By combining ceremonial flyovers, international engagement and operational coordination, the mission underlines the enduring strategic partnership between Paris and Washington. The presence of the Patrouille de France during the anniversary celebrations is also expected to attract strong public attention across the United States.
