Baykar Tests K2 Kamikaze UAV Swarm With AI-Driven Autonomous Formation Flights

Aviation News – Baykar has successfully tested five K2 Kamikaze UAVs flying in coordinated autonomous formations over the Gulf of Saros, marking a step forward in artificial-intelligence-driven drone swarm capabilities.

The Turkish defense company Baykar conducted multi-sortie flight tests from the Keşan Flight Training and Test Center, where five K2 Kamikaze Unmanned Aerial Vehicles demonstrated coordinated swarm operations. The trials took place over the Gulf of Saros and form part of the company’s strategy to develop cost-effective autonomous defense systems.

During the two-day test campaign, the K2 UAV swarm executed multiple coordinated flight patterns including right echelon, line, and V formations. Using onboard artificial intelligence, sensors, and autonomy algorithms, each drone independently calculated its position relative to the others and maintained formation without human intervention. The system is designed to enable cooperative operations between multiple drones during missions requiring synchronized movement and precision coordination.
