Aviation News – Satellite imagery shows a sharp increase in U.S. military support aircraft at a Saudi airbase, signaling a regional force buildup amid rising tensions with Iran.Images captured over four days in February revealed additional refueling tankers and logistics aircraft positioned at a base in Saudi Arabia regularly used by United States forces.
The movement comes as Washington strengthens its posture in the Middle East during heightened diplomatic and military friction with Tehran, even as indirect talks over Iran’s nuclear programme continue. Riyadh, a longtime U.S. partner, has publicly said it will not allow its airspace or territory to be used for direct military action against Iran.
The aircraft observed were primarily aerial refueling tankers and other support platforms, assets that extend the range and endurance of combat jets and enable sustained operations far from home bases. Such deployments typically precede or accompany contingency planning, allowing fighters, bombers and surveillance aircraft to operate continuously across large distances.
