Aviation News – A U.S. Air Force C-146A Wolfhound transport aircraft sustained significant damage and five occupants were injured after striking a concrete barrier during a takeoff attempt on a road in Laoac, Pangasinan.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon during a military exercise in the Philippines. The aircraft (serial 15-3086), a militarized version of the Dornier 328 turboprop, had successfully landed on the road strip earlier but swerved during the subsequent departure. Local police confirmed that while the pilot and two others required hospitalization, two additional personnel received treatment on-site.

The C-146A Wolfhound is utilized by Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) for the rapid movement of personnel and sensitive cargo. The aircraft is designed for short-takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities, allowing it to operate from semi-prepared surfaces or austere airstrips, though this specific maneuver on a restricted bypass road proved challenging.
