Drone Sightings Force Temporary Shutdown of Eindhoven Airport Flight

Update – Traffic resumed around 11 p.m. (2200 GMT), Brekelmans said, two hours after he had first reported the disruption.

Aviation News – Flights Halted at Eindhoven Airport After Multiple Drone Sightings

Flights to and from Eindhoven Airport, Netherlands were suspended on Sunday after several drones were spotted near the airfield, according to outgoing Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans. Authorities paused operations to ensure passenger safety.

The ministry reported that multiple drones were observed in controlled airspace surrounding the airport, prompting immediate intervention by aviation security teams. Eindhoven Airport, one of the Netherlands’ busiest regional hubs, halted traffic shortly after the sightings were confirmed.

The presence of drones near active runways poses significant risks to aircraft during takeoff and landing. Air traffic control initiated standard safety procedures, diverting incoming flights and delaying departures until the airspace was declared safe.
