Aviation News – The French Navy has selected the Pilatus PC-24 Super Versatile Jet as its new multi-mission aircraft. The acquisition underscores France’s commitment to modernizing its air capabilities with adaptable, efficient platforms.

The fleet of three PC-24s will be leased to the French Navy by Jet Aviation France, the prime contractor for the program. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in February 2026. Developed by Swiss manufacturer Pilatus, the PC-24’s selection highlights growing European interest in flexible, cost-effective aircraft solutions for government and defense applications.

Equipped for single-pilot operations, the PC-24 features a large cargo door and certification for use on unpaved runways. Its versatility allows for a wide range of missions, including pilot training under instrument flight rules (IFR), personnel transport, and liaison duties. The aircraft will be supported under Pilatus’s CrystalCare program, ensuring high fleet readiness and streamlined maintenance.

“By choosing the PC-24, the French Navy is gaining a proven, multi-purpose platform capable of operating in demanding environments while maintaining exceptional cost efficiency,” a Pilatus spokesperson said.

Looking ahead, the introduction of the PC-24 marks a significant modernization step for French naval aviation and may pave the way for broader adoption of light jets in European defense fleets. The program’s success could serve as a model for future government aviation initiatives across the continent.

In adopting the PC-24, the French Navy positions itself at the forefront of operational flexibility in military aviation, reinforcing Europe’s shift toward smarter, adaptable air fleet strategies.
