Aviation News – Five Hospitalized After Huntington Beach Helicopter Crash
Five people were hospitalized on Saturday afternoon after a helicopter crashed near a hotel in Huntington Beach, California, prompting a swift emergency response from local police and fire crews
The Huntington Beach Police Department reported that the crash occurred at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Huntington Street. According to authorities, the Bell 222SP helicopter, registered as N222EX, went down next to a nearby hotel. Two individuals were rescued from the helicopter, while three others sustained injuries on the street. Emergency responders transported all five victims to local hospitals for treatment.
Preliminary reports indicate that the helicopter, a twin-engine Bell 222SP, suffered a sudden mechanical failure while in flight. The aircraft crashed shortly after, causing debris to scatter across the busy coastal roadway. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the accident.
