Aviation News July 27, 2025 – Airbus has reached a significant production milestone with the delivery of its 100th A220 aircraft from its U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile. The aircraft, handed over to Breeze Airways, highlights the rapid progress of the A220 production line and reinforces Alabama’s growing role in the global aerospace sector.

The journey began in 2019 when Airbus initiated A220 assembly in Mobile. A dedicated final assembly line was launched the following year at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. In just over five years, the site has evolved from a startup operation to a cornerstone of Airbus’ North American strategy.

“This achievement reflects the passion and commitment of our team,” said Daryl Taylor, Senior Vice President of U.S. Commercial Aircraft Operations for Airbus. “We’re proud of what we’ve built together.”

Breeze Airways celebrated the milestone on social media, saying, “The 100th Airbus A220 just rolled off the line in Mobile — and it’s joining our fleet! We love that new plane smell.”

Originally developed by Bombardier and acquired by Airbus in 2018, the A220 has become a favorite for its fuel efficiency and passenger-friendly design. It is assembled in both Mobile and Mirabel, Canada, but the Alabama facility has taken a leading role in serving U.S. airline demand.

Ellen McNair, Alabama’s Secretary of Commerce, praised the achievement: “This milestone reflects both Airbus’ capabilities and Alabama’s skilled workforce. Together, we are helping shape the future of aviation.”Airbus’ Mobile site now employs over 2,000 people and continues to expand operations, including production of the A320 Family.
