AviationNews – Gulf Air is going big with Boeing. The national airline of Bahrain just announced a deal to add up to 18 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to its fleet. The agreement includes a firm order for 12 aircraft and options for six more, setting the stage for major growth in Gulf Air’s long-haul routes across the globe.

The announcement was made in a high-profile event attended by Bahrain’s Minister of Finance, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. They joined Boeing’s CEO Stephanie Pope and Gulf Air Group Chairman Khalid Taqi to seal the deal.

“This is a big leap for us,” said Taqi. “The Dreamliner has been a game-changer for our long-haul routes. It’s efficient, comfortable, and eco-friendly—exactly what we need as we expand.”

Gulf Air already operates 10 Dreamliners, connecting over 50 destinations worldwide. These new jets will help the airline reach more cities in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. while modernizing its entire widebody fleet.

Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner is known for its fuel savings, smooth ride, and spacious feel. It features the biggest windows in any passenger jet, cleaner cabin air, and advanced tech that reduces turbulence—something every traveler can appreciate.

Boeing’s Stephanie Pope added, “We’ve been partners with Gulf Air for over 60 years. This new order shows their strong commitment to innovation, growth, and a greener future.”

The deal will also support around 30,000 jobs in the U.S., adding an economic boost to the aviation industry.

Gulf Air’s journey with Boeing goes way back—starting with the iconic DC-3 in 1961. With these new Dreamliners, the airline is flying confidently into the future.
