Germany plans to procure up to 90 Eurofighters and 45 F-18 fighter aircraft.

The outdated Tornado fleet of the Bundeswehr is to be replaced from 2025 onwards by up to 90 additional Eurofighters and 45 F-18 fighters from the American manufacturer Boeing. The model is to be procured for electronic air combat and Germany’s “nuclear sharing” of American weapons. This is provided for by internal plans of the Ministry of Defence, which according to dpa information have already been discussed at political level and with industry representatives. Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) has yet to approve the plan, it was said in the parliamentary chamber.
