AviationNews – Saudi low-cost carrier flynas has formally signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for five additional A330-900 widebody aircraft and 20 A321neo single-aisle jets. The strategic order expands the Riyadh-based airline’s network capacity to directly support Saudi Arabia’s National Tourism Strategy and broader aviation transformation goals.
The transaction increases flynas’ total firm commitment for the widebody A330neo family to 20 aircraft and boosts its dedicated A321neo order book to 56 units. This latest tranche raises the carrier’s cumulative firm orders with Airbus to 235 aircraft out of an overall order pipeline of 280 jets. Flynas currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of 67 aircraft across six domestic bases, and the additional capacity will underpin both domestic route growth and regional expansions, including operations for its newly established flynas Syria venture.
Operationally, the twin-engine aircraft provide substantial efficiency and range gains across short-, medium-, and long-haul routes. The A321neo brings high-density single-aisle economics with at least a 20% reduction in fuel burn and carbon emissions compared to older aircraft types. Meanwhile, the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-powered A330-900 offers a non-stop range of up to 15,000 kilometers with a 25% lower fuel consumption profile, enabling the low-cost carrier to configure long-haul cabins for up to 400 passengers economically.

The fleet expansion aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 objective to establish the Kingdom as a global aviation and tourism hub, preparing the country to host major international events such as Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034. With deliveries phased over the coming years, flynas is positioned to capture surging passenger traffic between the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The finalized 25-aircraft agreement solidifies the long-standing partnership between flynas and Airbus while reinforcing low-cost connectivity across the Middle East. By pairing fuel-efficient narrowbodies with modern widebodies, the carrier is steadily executing its blueprint for sustainable long-term scale.
