Aviation News – Boeing has announced the delivery of the final three O3b mPOWER satellites—F11, F12, and F13—to space solutions provider SES, completing the initial 13-satellite medium Earth orbit (MEO) constellation to enhance global high-speed connectivity.
The delivery of units F11, F12, and F13 marks the successful conclusion of the program’s initial satellite rollout. This historic milestone reinforces a long-term strategic partnership between Boeing [NYSE: BA] and SES, expanding the reach and performance of MEO-based network infrastructure. By adding incremental capacity to the existing orbit, the additional satellites significantly increase network resiliency and coverage across international regions.
SES’s MEO network delivers critical digital access to underserved communities worldwide, enabling students in remote regions to access online education and allowing rural physicians to provide essential telehealth services. Beyond humanitarian and community use, the high-throughput network provides secure, low-latency data connections for government organizations, civil entities, mobile operators, commercial airlines, and cruise lines.
Operating in medium Earth orbit (MEO), these satellites offer distinct operational advantages over traditional geostationary systems by positioning closer to Earth, thereby substantially reducing signal latency.
