Aviation News – Baykar’s AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) has successfully struck a maritime target more than 250 kilometers away using Roketsan’s UAV-300 supersonic ballistic missile, marking another major step in the drone’s long-range strike capabilities.
The test began at the Çorlu Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ, where the AKINCI departed before flying toward the designated test area over the Black Sea. During the firing trial off the coast of Sinop, the UAV-300 achieved a direct hit on a maritime target, after which the aircraft returned to Çorlu along its planned route.
The latest test builds on the AKINCI’s expanding weapons portfolio. Integration of the UAV-122 and UAV-230 supersonic missiles had already been completed, while the successful UAV-300 trial adds another long-range strike option to the Turkish UCAV’s growing range of indigenous munitions.
The UAV-300 gives the AKINCI the ability to engage targets at more than 250 kilometers, extending its reach well beyond conventional short-range drone-launched weapons. Combined with its ability to carry different weapons for ground and air targets, the integration strengthens the aircraft’s flexibility for long-range precision-strike missions.
Baykar described the development as a further expansion of AKINCI’s indigenous weapons capability, stating that its “long-range, high-impact strike capacity has been elevated to a new level.”
The successful test is expected to further strengthen the AKINCI’s role as a long-range strike platform and demonstrate the growing maturity of Turkey’s domestic unmanned combat aviation industry. Continued integration of advanced missiles could give operators an increasingly broad range of options for precision engagements at significant distances.
