Aviation News – Archer Aviation has officially launched its nationwide “No Roads” flight tour in Northern California to demonstrate city-to-city electric air taxi routes, accelerating operational readiness for its commercial role at the LA28 Olympic Games and the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.
The initiative comes directly on the heels of a massive flight test campaign. In August alone, Archer logged more than 70 successful test flights, capped off by a historic piloted roundtrip flight connecting Salinas Municipal Airport and Monterey Regional Airport. Working in close coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Archer is now expanding its flight-testing footprint out of airport environments to connect key city pairs.
Beginning in Northern California—with initial stops spanning Monterey, Hollister, San Martin, San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco—the tour will soon expand to major urban corridors across the Los Angeles area, as well as high-density regions in Texas and Florida. The primary objective of the campaign is to validate real-world operational profiles, charging network interoperability, and air traffic integration across varied regional airspaces.
The tour highlights the transformational impact of Archer’s flagship Midnight aircraft—a piloted, four-passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for rapid back-to-back operations. By leveraging electric propulsion, the aircraft delivers zero operating emissions and significantly lower noise levels than traditional helicopters, reducing grueling 60-minute car commutes down to quiet, direct 10-to-20-minute aerial trips.
