Aviation News – IndiGo and Norse Atlantic Airways have agreed to terminate their long-haul partnership effective 1 November 2026, leading the Indian low-cost carrier to cancel its long-haul services to London Heathrow Airport.
The two airlines originally established the cooperation to expand IndiGo’s international footprint between India and key European destinations. Under the damp lease agreement, IndiGo deployed wide-body aircraft from Norse Atlantic Airways to launch long-haul routes into major European aviation hubs. However, both carriers mutually agreed to end the lease partnership by 1 November 2026, triggering a realignment of the airline’s long-distance flight portfolio.
This strategic termination follows earlier operational adjustments by IndiGo, which previously scrapped its route to Manchester Airport. While the suspension of the London-Heathrow service halts direct flights to the United Kingdom, IndiGo confirmed that its long-haul service to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will remain active. The network restructuring reflects a shift in resources as the carrier transitions toward operating its own narrow-body aircraft.
Operationally, IndiGo will maintain its long-haul flights to Amsterdam by deploying its incoming fleet of Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The extended-range narrow-body jet enables long-distance routes with significantly lower operating costs and improved fuel burn compared to standard wide-body aircraft. IndiGo currently has its first three Airbus A321XLRs in production, ensuring a seamless operational transition to preserve vital air connectivity between India and the Netherlands.
