The bilateral maneuvers commenced across several Egyptian air bases following the long-range transit of People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) assets from China. Supported by Xian YY-20A aerial refueling tankers and airborne early warning aircraft, the J-16 detachment completed a 6,000-kilometer deployment to North Africa before launching one-on-one and two-on-two tactical aerial engagements with Egyptian Air Force Rafale and MiG-29 fighters.
