AviationNews – Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer has reported an all-time record firm order backlog of $34.5 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026, marking its seventh consecutive quarter of order growth. The historical high reflects surging global demand across both commercial transport and defense sectors, led by the E-Jets E2 family and the C-390 Millennium military platform.
The order book value represents a 7 percent increase from the previous quarter and a 16 percent expansion year-over-year. Commercial Aviation continues to form the largest share of the portfolio at $15.1 billion, propelled by major commitments such as leasing firm Azorra’s order for 15 additional E195-E2 aircraft, which officially pushed the E2 program beyond 500 firm orders globally. Simultaneously, the Defense & Security division achieved the fastest annual expansion, jumping 42 percent to reach $6.1 billion, largely supported by a milestone contract from the United Arab Emirates for ten firm C-390 Millennium multi-mission tactical transports.
Operationally, the twin-engine E195-E2 single-aisle jet delivers double-digit reductions in fuel burn and operating costs compared to previous-generation regional aircraft, allowing airlines to optimize regional routes efficiently. In the defense arena, the C-390 Millennium uses advanced fly-by-wire controls and flexible cabin architecture to perform air-to-air refueling, medical evacuation, and heavy cargo transport missions. The combination of reduced fuel consumption and high operational availability across these platform families gives operators strong economic advantages amid tight global fleet supplies.
